These are currently quick reviews of the Big Blow recordings Bush Leaguers have heard. If you have a Big Blow recording and would like to submit a review, please mail it to Jon.C.Stewart-Taylor@adn.alcatel.com.

What Didjeridu?

This is the first "real" Big Blow recording, and contains many of the standard tunes they currently do at their concerts, as well as some "lets fool around with all this studio equipment" cuts. My favorites include "Tu-Ri-Ah", "Take A Hammer", "Shawnee Town" and "Ngiri Intamari". (jcst)

The What Didj CD is currently sold out, but cassettes are still available.

Habagoola

Habagoola is Big Blow's second album. Perhaps paradoxically, i like the band's sound better on Habagoola, but (with a few exceptions) prefer the songs on What Didj. The sound is richer, i think in part due to Don Plehn's adopting the acordian. My favorites include "Two in the Bush" (currently my all-time favorite Big blow tune), "Fiddler a Dram", and (blush) "Hey, Healthboy!". I'm sorry to say i actively dislike "Repriroxyerox". (jcst)

Off Kilter: A Celtic Outerlude

An 11-track EP CD, all Celtic or Celtic-based music, mostly traditional.

Still too new for me to have formed a proper opinion, though a fine version of "Dido Bendigo" is very welcome, and the remake of "Please the Ploughboy" is an interesting contrast with the version on What Didj. Warning: "Sawny Bean" is PG-13 for graphic violence.
